Tesla Chile was registered and published in the Official Gazette on Sept. 28, allowing for various commercial activities including the import, export, manufacturing, marketing, distribution, and sale of electric vehicles.
The registration also includes the generation and supply of energy and electricity.
Tesla is currently hiring personnel for positions such as general manager, sales advisers, and service technicians in Chile.
Chile has significant lithium reserves, which is relevant to Tesla’s electric vehicle production.
China’s BYD also announced plans to open a battery component plant in Chile earlier this year.
