  • Taiwanese Cultural Festival – a festival celebrating everything Taiwanese along Granville Street and other downtown locations.
  • Bands on the Beach – free live music at Harrison Hot Springs in the afternoon.
  • Victory Square Block Party – a free event with live music at Victory Square at 316 West Hastings Street.
  • Nikkei Matsuri – a 2-day Japanese festival at the Nikkei National Museum & Cultural Centre in Burnaby.
  • Summer Sundays – last day of the season for free live music at Rocky Point Park in Port Moody.
  • Bard on the Beach Shakespearean theatre at Vanier Park.
  • Darts Hill Garden – open to the public by donation at 1633-170th Street in Surrey.

  • Steveston Village Farmers Market – in Richmond’s Steveston Village at 4111 Moncton Street from 10:30 am until 3:30 pm.

  • Jazz Vespers – at St. Andrew’s Wesley United Church at 1022 Nelson Street between 4 and 5 pm. Admission is by donation.

  • Labour Day – various activities celebrated all weekend long throughout the Lower Mainland.
  • Chilliwack Sunflower Festival – acres of beautiful sunflowers to admire from 9 am until 7 pm at 41310 Yale Road in Chilliwack.
  • Labour Day at Burnaby Village – the outdoor museum celebrates its final day of the summer season with free carousel rides, live entertainment and family-friendly activities from 11 until 4:30 pm.

  • Movie Night at the River District – free drive-in movies at River District Vancouver. Tonight’s double-feature is Ant Man & The Wasp and Solo: A Star Wars Movie. The event is free, but you need to reserve tickets in advance. (Note: Both movies are now SOLD OUT. However, more tickets may become available and you can always just walk in with your lawn chairs.)

  • Maple Ridge Food Truck Festival – food trucks, live music and market vendors at Haney Plaza in Maple Ridge.

  • CapFest 2018 – a free family-friendly event at Capilano University’s North Vancouver campus from 2 until 9 pm.

  • Riverfest – a community festival at the Quay in New Westminster with live entertainment and environmental educational displays.

  • Cloverdale Market Days – a large artisan market featuring over 100 vendors in downtown Cloverdale on 176th Street (between 56A Avenue and 58 Avenue) from 10 am until 3 pm.

  • Steveston Grand Prix of Art – dozens of artists paint along the waterfront in Steveston Village near the Britannia Heritage Shipyards from 10 am until 1 pm. The paintings are then on display at the Seine Net Loft at the historic site until 6 pm (and then again on September 23rd from noon until 4 pm).

  • Sports Events

  • BC Lions Football – BC Lions against the Hamilton Tiger-Cats at BC Place Stadium at 7 pm.

  • Agassiz Raceway Car Racing – Championship Night car racing at 5045 Cemetery Road in Agassiz (weather permitting – if raining it’ll take place on September 29th instead).

  • SeaWheeze Half Marathon – a 21.1 km run in downtown Vancouver with an evening Sunset Festival at Stanley Park.

  • Bard on the Beach – Shakespearean theatre at Vanier Park.

  • Darts Hill Garden – today is an official Open House at the gardens at 1633-170th Street in Surrey. Admission is by donation.

  • Saturday Farmers Markets – in Abbotsford, Burnaby, Fort Langley, Lonsdale Quay, Maple Ridge (Haney), Squamish, Trout Lake and the West End.

  • Richmond Night Market – at 8351 River Road in Richmond.

  • Family Favourites Movies – the movie Show Dogs costs $2.99 in the morning at select Cineplex theatres in Abbotsford, Burnaby, Chilliwack, Coquitlam, Langley, Pitt Meadows, Richmond, Surrey and Vancouver.
